CETP: ESL Teachers Needed for Fall!
Location: Hungary: Budapest, Rural Areas
Length of Position: Full school year or more.
Program Duration: 7-12 months
Typical Duration of Program: 7-12 months
Dates: September-June or January-June
Description
We will have the need for approximately 40 new teachers for fall of 2012. Most applicants will teach conversational English although several may teach other subjects also. We will also have a need for a few preschool/kindergarten teachers.
The Central European Teaching Program represents a significant presence in Hungary. Our volunteers are responsible for enhancing student's oral fluency through conversation practice, classroom drills, games, audio-visual instruction, and listening comprehension, as well as through working closely with native teachers to emphasize important grammar concepts. High school teachers may be asked to help prepare students for stringent national language exams as well. CETP has been placing conversational English teachers in Central and European Europe since 1990.
Highlights
If you're looking for a unique opportunity to become an active part of a Central European community, consider CETP. This is a wonderful opportunity not just to teach abroad but to learn about another culture from the point of view of a resident rather than a tourist. Past teachers have pursued myriad interests, such as working with local Roma rights associations, coaching school drama clubs to first place in national competitions, founding girl scout troops, starting a folk crafts import-export company and indulging in weekly opera and ballet performances.
Qualifications
All Central European Teaching Program applicants must be native English speakers and have earned at least a 4-year degree. While a teaching certificate is useful, it is not always a requirement. Before departing for Hungary, all applicants must have earned a TEFL certificate, which may be gained through a 40-hour on-line course.

Cost Include Description:
We provide teaching assignments in quality, state-run schools and all necessary paperwork to obtain work visas. A private apartment with utilities (other than phone/Internet service) is provided. CETP volunteers receive the same pay as native teachers. This is plenty to live on, though some teachers augment their salary by offering private lessons. Medical care is covered while in-country, though volunteers should obtain an International Teacher's Card for travel outside of their host country. CETP has wonderful country directors who provide support and friendship, so our volunteers are never left feeling alone in a crisis, be it large or small. Our fee also includes a 5-7 day orientation in Hungary before the start of school. During this week, new teachers will receive lessons in Hungarian culture, history and language as well as teaching methodology. When not in class, we will acquaint volunteers with the wonders of Budapest. Housing, classes, local transportation, all breakfasts and two dinners will be paid by CETP. We pick up all volunteers upon their arrival in Budapest and make arrangements for staff from their schools to escort them to their new homes. And during the course of the year, excursions are planned by both the country director and the teachers themselves.
