The Majuro Cooperative seeks elementary and middle school teachers. Desired qualifications include a teaching certificate with strong background in balanced literacy, guided reading, and 1-2 years of teaching experience. Strong candidates shall also have had experience living and working in a developing country and/or cross cultural experience, and working with English language learners. Salary and benefits depend on experience; housing and airfare included.

Highlights

The Majuro Cooperative School, a private school serving 320 students in preschool through 12th grade, seeks a principal for the elementary school (preschool through 8th grade). The school is located in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, a small developing Pacific island nation.

We are a "family" oriented school with children from 16 countries attending. Many of our students are second generation Co-op students. We provide housing and air fare, in addition to a livable wage. The Marshall Islands is a developing country with many of the issues common to developing countries: high unemployment, lack of strong educational system, poverty. The health care system is a universal health care system and all teachers are eligible to participate. Our equatorial climate and warm clear ocean make snorkling, scuba diving, and fishing very popular!
