A rapidly growing international school in the major Chinese city of Guangzhou (close to Hong Kong) is looking for a Secondary Music teacher with experience of teaching IGCSE and, if possible, A level for an August 2012 start. This is a private International School serving the needs of the expatriate community within Guangzhou. The school has been in operation for 7 years and has a reputation as the most academic of the international schools within Guangzhou.

This is an amazing opportunity to join an expanding and very successful international school, providing a first class British-style education for children of the expatriate community in Guangzhou. They are located on two sites 25km north of Guangzhou city (which is 1 1/2 hours by train north of Hong Kong), in a beautiful lakefront setting, overlooking Nanhu Lake golf and country club and the surrounding hills.

An excellent salary of around GBP2,675 a month is on offer, plus accommodation and flights. With cost of living being significantly lower than the UK and housing provided, it is not surprising that saving potential on this salary is superb.

In order to be qualified, teachers must possess a degree (usually a 3/4 year course at a noted UK University) coupled with a specialised and relevant Educational/Teaching diploma issued by a reputable institution (usually 1 year post graduate qualification). Alternatively, teachers take a specialised 4-year teaching degree, leading to Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) qualification.
It is the school's policy to employ teachers with outstanding professional credentials from the UK with relevant experience delivering the English National Curriculum. On occasion, the school will also employ outstanding teachers with other internationally recognised qualifications and British curriculum experience.

The majority of teachers at the school are British. The school hires teachers with 3+ years of experience and with UK curriculum backgrounds. They will however, look at a good candidate with 2 years of experience. They hire single teachers, married teaching couples and teaching couples with families and will pay tuition fees for up to 2 children.

Guangzhou boasts a history of over 2210 years. The city has over 123 historical sites protected by the state, numerous green open spaces and countless tourist attractions making it a top choice for expatriates. It's a great place in which to live and work and is close to Hong Kong plus there are frequent flights to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Seoul, Hanoi, Tokyo, Sydney, Amsterdam, Paris etc.
